  •  Welcome back to the 2017-2018 school year!  We are off to a great start with some exciting new initiatives!

    • TIME-TO-TEACH  --  You may hear your children talking about this positive behavior program which we have implemented this year.  We are seeing positive results already!  We want to give all our students time to learn, so we are giving Time to Teach time to work.  Ask your child about this program.  Get the conversation started.  You will learn more about this at Back to School Night.
    • STANDARDS BASED REPORT CARDS -- GRADES K-6.  A much more accurate assessment of a student's progress based on each standard.  Teachers at Back to School Night will provide additional information.

    READING

It's important to keep the habit and love of reading alive all year long! We all strive to be life-long learners and by reading, we cultivate life-long readers. Reading is such a wonderful way to take you to magical places, whether fiction or non-fiction. Cozy up on the beach, by a pool, in your yard, on the couch or at the Somers Point Library reading some of these titles:

"Skylar Robbins: The Mystery of Shadow Hills" series by Carrie Cross

"The 13-Story Treehouse" series by Andy Griffiths--it follows two young boys and their adventures in a magical, mystical treehouse.

"Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series

"The Penderwicks" series by Jeanne Birdsall--follows three children in the same family who can't stay out of trouble!

"Rain Reign" by Ann Martin--a novel about the young girl Rose, who has Asperger's syndrome.

Whatever it is that you like-READ ABOUT IT! Sports, Music, History... . KEEP READING!!!
